In fact, we believe breaking bread together is a sacred act and through it redemption is possible. We stand for this possibility through every dish we deliver, every service we provide and every person we employ… from the farm to the fork. We’re a no-throwaway culture. We redeem it all.
It’s easiest to understand our story when you begin with our people. Most of our staff is made up of ex-offenders, men & women who have been sentenced to serve a term in prison. These people are typically written off as damaged goods when they are released. They are our society’s castaways.
What makes our staff special is that everyone who works for Redemption has claimed a new destiny. To that end, we commit all our resources to assisting ex-offenders in developing their gifts and becoming value to our community. Our training, standards and expectations are the highest because we know from experience the challenges they face when reentering society. The tougher the background the more we believe they have to give back. We love working with those that appreciate how big a deal a second chance really is.
In this way, we think of ourselves as social entrepreneurs who view redemption as a win, win, win proposition: Society is much safer and productive when ex-offenders have a place to live, work and develop their character as they reenter their communities. Our staff wins as they reclaim their value through service an opportunity not readily available to them. And finally, you, our patron wins because we’re able to deliver unbelievable food, excellently served at prices that are fantastic.
Redemption Foods is owned by the non-profit organization New Horizon Community Reentry Center, which is a reentry home for those being released from prison. The ex-offenders living here will go through transformation trainings, learn life skills, and adjust back into society.
